Spawned from the musical melting pot of Brighton University where she studied alongside the likes of Jo Mount of Metronomy, Natasha Kahn of Bat for Lashes, Preston of Ordinary Boys and the iconic DJ Scotch Egg, Kassia Zermon began to forge her own sonic adventure.
Bunty is a London born half morrocan half french multi-instrumentalist and vocal looping pioneer. Bunty uses her voice, synths, toys, electric guitar, beats and a mix bag of real and made-up languages and loops. She whispers, bellows, beatboxes, claps, stamps and produces frenzied harmonies to create her music from scratch. Each show is different with a large portion of her sets relying on improvisation and off-the-cuff inspiration.
Bunty flits deftly from beautifully serene choral soundscapes and psyche folk to stomping funkadelia and Arabian disco-core.
This lady has already supported the likes of Scroobius pip, Susheela Raman, Horace Andy, Peggy Sue Transformer to name a few, more recently collaborating with Beatbox champion and south bank resident artist SHLOMO at Brighton corn exchange. If Beck, Laurie Anderson, and Billy Holiday had produced an IVF love-child then Bunty is
what it would sound like.
‘Bunty produces almost entirely improvised, experimental space-pop.’
